Issue
When attempting to log in to the HESSDA application using a shortcut created with the license file, users encounter the following error message:
"Login Failed - The license () could not be validated (Cloud Hosted License)."
The application loads without issues, but the login process fails with this error.
Solution
The issue is related to the default browser settings on the client’s computer. Follow these steps to resolve the problem:
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Identify the Default Browser:
- Check the default web browser on the client’s computer. In this case, the issue occurred when Google Chrome was set as the default browser.
- To verify the default browser on Windows:
- Open Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
- Look for the Web browser setting to see which browser is currently set as default.
- Change the Default Browser to Microsoft Edge:
- In the Default Apps settings:
- Click on the current default browser (e.g., Google Chrome).
- Select Microsoft Edge from the list of available browsers.
- Confirm the change by clicking Set default.
- In the Default Apps settings:
- Launch the HESSDA Application:
- Open the HESSDA application using the previously created shortcut with the license file.
- Attempt to log in again.
- Verify Successful Login:
- The application should now log in without displaying the "License could not be validated" error.
- If the issue persists, ensure that Microsoft Edge is up to date and try again.
Notes
- This issue is specific to cloud-hosted license configurations for the HESSDA application.
- Setting Microsoft Edge as the default browser resolves compatibility issues with the license validation process.
- If the problem continues after following these steps, contact the HESSDA support team for further assistance.
